What is different about us?

Many things set us apart from a traditional Physical Therapy clinic here in Sarasota, FL.  Each client is provided with a full hour of one on one treatment with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  You are never treated by a tech or assistant and undivided attention is placed on you because you are the priority.  You will never be handed off to another person for treatment and you will also not be treated at the same time as other clients.  You will not waste your time performing exercises that you could do independently, laying on ice or hot packs or having a treatment that is dictated by what the insurance company will pay for.  We are interested in a holistic and whole body approach to health care that is tailored to your individual and unique needs and we are focused on one thing only.  You.  And getting you back to a healthy, happy and active life.

We also offer virtual consultations for many diagnoses which is still offered with the Doctor of Physical Therapy.  It is tailored to your unique needs without the hands on options however the focus is still to return you to your active life. 

What can I expect?

During the first session each client is evaluated to determine the cause of your pain or injury and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and lifestyle by using a whole body approach.  Each evaluation is typically 60-90 minutes one on one to allow for a thorough examination.  Treatment tools will be provided in the first visit to allow for you to begin your healing journey from the first day.  

A typical course of care involves one treatment a week for approximately 4-8 weeks with the remaining days of the week using the tools provided during treatment with the guidance of your therapist to heal yourself and create a life of prevention.  

What do I wear?

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing.  For women that may involve wearing a sports bra or tank top if your injury involves your shoulder or upper back.  Wherever your injury is the muscles will need to be visualized and palpated while maintaining modesty.

Do I need a prescription from a doctor?

A referral or prescription from a Doctor is not necessary for the first 30 days of treatment due to direct access in the state of FL. 

Having immediate access to a Physical Therapist can often make the difference in a quick recovery and keeping an injury acute before it turns chronic.  You are encouraged to call us to make an appointment if you are with pain or injury.  

 

Kristen Bowman

Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Yoga Instructor

As a child of a career Navy family, Kristen is used to moving all around the country as noted by her path across the country to pursue education and career goals.  Kristen attended Virginia Wesleyan College where she competed on the Cross Country Team.  After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, she attended Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.  In 2007 she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and once again moved, this time back to the West Coast.  

After years in CA, Kristen then went on to pursue a travel PT job taking her all over the country in an effort to help out clinics that were in need of organization, leadership and a highly skilled therapist.  With a total of more than 10 years of experience in every type of setting and work with every variety of patient Kristen has settled on the Gulf Coast of FL to continue pursuing her passion of helping people.  She enjoys running with almost 25 years of experience racing anything from 5K to marathons and is highly motivated to help other runners stay injury free.  Kristen is also passionate about  yoga, hiking, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband and their newest addition, a baby girl.
